Mobile Home Remodeling

Because mobile homes are a limited living space, that means the options you have for remodeling are not as diverse as well. But that doesn't mean that you cannot make a mobile home attractive with some projects that will go a long way to improve the look and feel of your home.

It just takes some imagination by stepping back from your living space in your mobile home seeing it in a new light to find ways to add a lot of style to the look and feel of your mobile home.

Look at the different spaces of your mobile home in terms of atmosphere and the message you want each room to communicate.

Often the impression most people get in a mobile home is clutter and confinement. So you want to open up the space and create a feel of organization and light. How you decorate the walls can go a long way to create a feeling of openness.

Light colors in your furniture and paintings on the wall can help. Also, look at the art you put up as a way to create openness. Consider art that shows open spaces, horizons, waterfalls and lots of space rather than paintings of interior scenes.

To address the clutter issue, take a hard look at how you use your storage space to try to get as much unused "stuff" out of the public areas as possible.

If you have your mobile home in a permanent location, you can purchase a quality storage unit that is separate but not distant from the mobile home itself.

You can install shelving in that unit and move much of the clutter from your living rooms and bedroom to that unit so you know where it is but it isn't always underfoot.

Less is more is a good approach to furniture in your mobile home. Look to moving away from large overstuffed living room furniture. Instead, look for furniture that is comfortable but sleek and modern in design.

As much as possible eliminate end tables and lamps that occupy floor space. Track lighting mounted along the top of the walls is cool looking while creating lots of light without cluttering up the floor. The more open space for walking you create, the more your mobile home will look spacious and comfortable.

You can also take some steps to upgrade the carpet and other floor coverings to add brighter colors and to make each room look modern and new. Stay away from dark colors in your carpet selections. For kitchen or other spaces where the flooring may be looking run down, you can find area rugs to cover blemishes in the floor and add a lot of class to your mobile home.

It really is a matter of looking for ways to add class and an open feel to your mobile home. With just a few well thought out changes, you can vastly improve the feel of your mobile home and make it more relaxed and fun for family and guests to enjoy.
